2 Towns Afton Fields Cider Release & Tasting

2 Towns is best known for their solid lineup of easy-drinking ciders, but they also produce a line of super complex ciders using a variety of traditional methods. The Afton Fields cider was fermented using a strain of Brettanomyces yeast isolated from one of their barrels. All of the apples are grown on a nearby farm, and provide some serious terroir. Our rep Ross will be here sampling out some of these rarified gems, don’t miss it!




Tapping Into Community – Burrito Brigade

Drink and support! This edition of our nonprofit collaboration program features Burrito Brigade, an all-volunteer organization working to alleviate hunger in Oregon. They provide hundreds of vegan meals to hungry individuals in Eugene and Springfield every week. This is a great chance to help out by having a pint. Benefit keg TBA!




Nectar Creek Sting Can Release

Mead in a can?! Yup, and a real zinger at that. Take Nectar Creek’s ginger session mead on your next outdoor excursion… or barbeque… or just to your living room… in an environmentally friendly package! You can sample the Sting here, and we will tap Nectar Creek’s Festoon Hibiscus Plum mead and Mellifera, a sour session mead aged in French oak barrels with muscat grape juice, lactobacillus, and Brettanomyces yeast. Woo!




Elysian Superfuzz Skateboard Giveaway Kickoff + Benefit

Break It Down! Food Fermentation Workshop

The transformation of raw food into delicious, fermented consumables is pretty much why we are here (at least, here at The Bier Stein). If you’re curious about how to turn a tasty local organic cabbage into delicious sauerkraut to cook with and pair with your liter of lager, you should join us for this informative event!

Break It Down is a hands-on workshop led by our chef Patrick in conjunction with Fermentation on Wheels, a touring fermentation education nonprofit. You’ll be preparing your own sauerkraut while gaining knowledge of the culture and science behind lactic fermentation. In addition, there will be samples of sauerkraut and a little beer to pair. You’ll go home with a jar to ferment and some sweet recipes to use in the future!

Please sign up in advance, as space is limited to 20 participants– there is a sign-up sheet at the bar, or e-mail aaron(at)thebierstein(dot)com with your name and phone number. We are asking for a $10 suggested donation– 100% of that will go to Fermentation on Wheels. Participants will also receive a coupon for 20% off a purchase at the Falling Sky Fermentation Supply Shop.
